May Campout – Oscoda/Tawas KOA The plans have been finalized for the first campout of the year (May 16-19, 2024). Let’s go camping and have fun. Oscoda/Tawas KOA 3591 Forest Rd. Oscoda Michigan 48750. To make reservations, call Jennifer at 989-739-5115 (before April 15th to ensure a spot) and leave a message as they are closed for the winter. She will call back within a day or two. When she calls you back (return call may show as restricted), tell her that you are with the LAW/NL group and the sites are on hold under Ron Atkinson. Do not call the KOA 800 number. The 800 number will not give you the group discount or a site in the area reserved for our group. Caution - Do not take side streets that your GPS maybe telling you to take, such as Aster Rd. ALWAYS take US 23 to Johnson Rd and then west on Forest Road. There is NO other good alternative route to the park and any other directions will lead you to dirt roads where it may be extremely difficult to turn around with a large RV. Send payment of $55.00 for 2 people ( $27.50 for 1 person) for food, etc to David Schrader, 4158 E. Baker Rd. Midland, MI 48642 before May 1, 2024. Make check out to LAW. This does not include site fees or trip on the AuSable Queen. Itinerary: May 16 - Welcome at 4p followed by group dinner at G’s Pizza, Oscoda May 17 - Coffee and donuts. 6p Deli chicken, salad, rolls, brownies. May 18 – Coffee and breakfast. Noon -2p Group trip on AuSable Queen. 6p Potluck (Brats supplied) and bring a dish to pass May 19 – Coffee and Continental Breakfast During our campout, the Tawas Bird Migration and Festival is happening. The birds are most active from dawn to about 10a and then from about 3p to dusk. Nearby are Wurtsmith Air Museum, Lumberman’s Monument, Largo Springs, Lighthouses and many other attractions.

Reservation forms will go out in June, to be returned to Dave Schrader. This year’s theme: Your Dream Job. Possible activities: Midland County Fair, Whiting Forest Canopy Walk, barnyard golf, ladder ball, corn hole, campfires, sing-a-longs. Friday evening will be Dave’s Famous Pork Shoulder Burnt Ends BBQ (with potluck). Volunteers are needed to help with: Friday morning breakfast Saturday morning Pancake breakfast
