The Scottish Festival in Alma, MI is now history and what a great time we had! We were blessed with perfect weather and our rally masters Rod, Maggie, George and Vicki did an awesome job with the potluck and breakfast feasts! The homemade scones, jams, jellies and breads were delicious! The Saturday parade was outstanding and our military got standing ovations as they passed. So good to see that appreciation again!
The Scottish Festival was interesting as you can see in the photos. The Scottish dances, pipe bands, hammer throw and caber toss were only part of the contests and hearing all the clans(300 members) playing their bagpipes at the same time was fantastic! We’re happy to welcome new members, Jeanette and Tom Lippins from Oxford, MI (jeanette2021@yahoo.com)and Kathy O’bee(kathrynobee@gmail.com), a guest of Bob and Liz Webber. Hope to see you again at GLAMA in June. We lunched at the Hearthstone Oven in the Mennonite-run restaurant in nearby Ithica – definitely worth the stop if you’re close to that area! Everyone left feeling like my couch, overstuffed!
Attending were Tom and Sharon Dorrance, Rod and Maggie Chubb, George and Vicki Daubresse, Bob and Liz Webber, Bruce and Dorothy Wierman, John and Simone Verellen, Tom, Marcia and Jessica Bird, Larry and Barb Vanderburg, Ed and Anne Bearse, Jerry and Sue Woller, Doug and Judy Johnson, Ron and Mary Ellen Brown, Bill and Jane Kirschke, Jim and Peggy Johnston, Kathy O’bee, Tom and Jeanette Lippins, Kathy and Dick Montgomery. Al Kloha and Carol Park stopped by but couldn’t stay as they had an unfortunate fender bender the day before but fortunately, they weren’t injured!
All in all, a great start with this being our first rally in 2014. Looking forward to four more this year!!
