ELKHART-Pre-Rally to Indy, August, 2012
Bocce Ball Competition.
Our Rally began on a beautiful day. As the 14 RV units came into the park, we greeted each other as if we were family...and in so many ways we are. There was much to chat about at cocktail hour and at the catered dinner of the "Haystack" and cupcakes. The evening form of entertainment was a game of Bocce Ball with the GREEN Team coming from behind to win.
Many thanks for the GREAT Elkhart Rally to our rally organizers:
Alice and Ken Hamlin, Marcia and Tom Bird with Jessica and Dick and Kathy Montgomery.

ELKHART, DAY TWO
Alice, Ken and Tom hardly at work!
Our rally masters, Tom, Marcia and Jessica Bird, Ken and Alice Hamlin and Dick and Kathy Montgomery served up a glorious breakfast of pancakes, waffles and sausage for those that got themselves out of bed. The day was left for us to do as we pleased. Of course, there was cocktail hour at four. Tonight, the Eversmann announced that they purchased a new motor home...a 29 foot Phoenix with three slides. We can't wait to see it tomorrow. Maybe, some of us will volunteer to make the transfer of items from one to another? Many of us went to dinner at the Chubby Trout. To burn off dinner, back to the park for another round of Bocce Ball.
ELKHART, DAY 3
Maggie caught Jean and Myrna at coffee without their badges.
After coffee and doughnuts, the campers readied for the trip to Shipshewana for the Theater Show of "Half-Stitched" and Dinner of roast beef and chicken. Myrna and Jean, left for places "unknown" while the rest of us prepare for departure together for the Indy Rally.
HALF-STITCHED, the Musical
The Blue Gate Theater located in Shipshewana, Indiana happened to have the opening performance while our Northern Lights group was RVing nearby. Twenty-five NL members enjoyed the stage performance of HALF-STITCHED. The plot involves six unexpected characters that signed up for Quilting 101 from Amish quilter, Emma Yoder. The setting is local with bits of humor and personal trials, each being a loose thread that come together to form their quilt and heal their wounds. After the performance, the cast came out to the lobby to meet and greet. Several of our members walked the reception line to express their favor for the performance. After our dinner downstairs I headed up to meet the author Wanda E. Brunstetter and to have my The HALF-STITCHED AMISH QUILTING CLUB book, signed. Thank-you for such a pleasant afternoon.
