Frankenmuth Rally @ Pine Ridge Campground August 10, 2017
Rallymasters Rod and Maggie Chubb and George and Vicki Daubresse with the able assistance of Kathy O’Bee report the following good times for this rally.
Those attending were the Allers, Bearses, Birds, Chubbs, Ruths, Wiermans, O’Bee, Millers, Daubresses, Ostyns, Srokas, Hollister, Verellens, Johnsons, Guisingers, Konrads, Paynes, Conrads, Bates, Krecs, and Bakers.
We gathered at Happy Hour Thursday at 4PM to renew friendships and meet new members. Heather and John Baker just joined our club and they’re from Kincardine, Ontario so our Northern Lights club is truly an international group! Welcome Heather and John! We completed the evening with our delicious potluck in the campground building with George's roast pork and homemade applesauce.
Friday morning arrived with some starts and stops of rain. After Maggies chipped beef on toast breakfast with lots of homemade bread and fruit, we headed for the Frankenmuth Fun Ships. There, Rod helped us board two electric boats with 9 people each and the awesome duo Jack Bates and Ed Bearse were in charge of the quiet ride up the Cass River. The boats ran quiet but during the wine and chocolate tastings, the crews picked up speed with lots of laughs! Some members also rode on the 150 passenger Bavarian Bell paddlewheel boat. Then on to lunch at the Frankenmuth Brewery next door. We scattered ourselves around town after that enjoying the shopping and of course, the visit to Bronners, the Christmas Store known all over the world. Happy hour at 4PM was cut a bit short by the sudden rain and after the big lunch, many called the visit to the Ice Cream shop, Dinner!
Saturday, we again got together for Vicki and Georges biscuits and gravy, watermelon and fruit for breakfast and were free to roam downtown or the nearby Outlet Malls or General RV until happy hour. We then headed for Zehnders famous restaurant for a family style chicken dinner with all the trimmings in a private room and stuffed ourselves silly. We cruised their large store afterwards and I’m sure many made a contribution to their coffers.
Sunday morning came all too soon and it was time to spread our wings and take flight! We hope everyone enjoyed the rally as much as we did and look forward to seeing you all in Mt. Pleasant at Soaring Eagle Resort in September.
