Our rally this year was GREAT! The weather was warm and pleasant; the seminars were fun and interesting; the three nights of entertainment were super and the good friends were fantastic!
Those attending were John and Heather Baker, Tom and Marcia Bird, Terri and Mary Cline, Bob and Shirley Dingman, Don and Sharon Eversmann, Bob and Bev Garcia, Ken and Alice Hamlin, Fred Hollister, Kathy O’Bee, Michael and Leslie Ostyn, Bert and Judy Ruth, Paul and Aneita Zoutendam and new members, Tom and Jackie Latterner.
Wednesday, the rally started off with with the opening ceremonies welcoming the 500 attendees. For the entertainment, Sarah Getto launched into her performance with her beautiful voice and musical talent. Sarah has been blind since birth and writes and sings her own music and plays the keyboard.
Thursday was filled with seminars, happy hour and catching up with what everyone did over the Winter. Many of our group volunteered for seminar monitoring and that went well with just one seminar in each building for sound control instead of two as last years was. Four of our members were presenters this year. Terri Cline did Traveling with your Pet, Bob Dingman led a class making jewelry boxes, Sharon Eversmann did Quilting with Fat Quarters, Kathy O'Bee led a class Painting on Canvas. Judy Ruth, Leslie Ostyn, Anieda Zoutendam and Bev Garcia had many duties with the Ladies Tea and/or Registration. Bob Garcia and Mike Ostyn handled the Vendors booths. Thank you all!
The ice cream social was especially nice! Dinner was on our own in Allegan. We did have a little excitement with Kathy O’Bee locking her keys in her coach and Tom Bird filling his black water tank instead of the fresh water tank. Thankfully, no damage was done with either and all is well!
Friday was bright and sunny and the vendors booths were open along with more seminars, motorcoach tour, farmers market, Gun Lake Casino, St. Julian Winery, etc. Enough to keep everyone as busy as they wanted to be.
Saturday was spent relaxing and enjoying the great weather and friends. Sunday, mother nature sent us home with a little shower to wash the dust off our coaches. At the GLAMA board meeting Saturday, the membership voted to return to Allegan next year and they may have it a week later than this year to avoid some conflicts with graduations and other rallies. We’ll look forward to that!
