MIGRATING WITH THE BIRDS
This was a joint rally with the Lansing Area Winnies. Wagon masters were Ron and Janet Atkinson, David and Marguerite Schrader (both couples are members of LAW and Northern Lights) and Teri Cline from Northern Lights. We were at Oscoda/Tawas KOA from May 16th-19th. A big THANK YOU to our wagon masters for setting this up and hosting us for a great weekend! Arrival was Thursday, May 16th and some had already gone Birding. After Happy Hour we went to G’s Pizza for dinner. Friday after coffee and donuts we had the day to explore the area and returned for Happy Hour, and then a wonderful dinner with chicken and fixings. Before we could escape, the Schraders divided us up into groups to play Bird Trivia. It was a great way to meet new people, and thank goodness the questions were multiple choice. A whole lot of guessing was going on. The winning team got bird feeders and food for each member. Saturday started with bag omelets with tons of toppings, fruits, and donuts. The day of exploring included the Wurtsmith Air Museum, Lumberman’s Monument, and Tawas Point Lighthouse. After Happy Hour (It never rained on us for any Happy Hour.) our cooks grilled up Bratwurst and everyone brought side dishes. There was plenty of food! After dinner we had stories around the campfire. We said goodbye after a Continental breakfast on Sunday morning. A good time was had by all.
