The Taste of Harbor Springs Rally 2023
This was the last rally of the year and what a great time we had at beautiful Camp Pet-O-Sega. The rally masters this time were Mike and Doris Price and Ed and Anne Bearse. Others attending were Ron Atkinson, Tom and Marcia Bird, Mike and Marcia Black, Teri and Mary Cline, George and Vicki Daubresse, Bob and Shirley Dingman, Leslie Driesenga, Ken and Alice Hamlin, Bill and Sue Hodder, Ron Mercer/Pat Korloch, Jim and Barb Miller, Jim and Sharon Morris, Mike and Leslie Ostyn, Greg and Marian Oswalt, Mike and Kay Cichon and Scott and Megg Wheeldon. Guests were Jim and Sharen Holstine and Gary Babcock and Jan Meinhold.
The rally started on Thursday with everyone arriving at Camp Pet-O-Sega RV Park. This is a hidden gem in northern Michigan. Trevor, the park manager greeted us and was very helpful in the placement of our rigs. All the activities at the park were at their new pavilion right on beautiful Pickerel Lake. A supper was served of Ebel’s famous brats with all the fixings
Friday, the day started out with coffee, juice, muffins, yogurt, and donuts followed by the business meeting and election of officers. New officers effective November 1st are Bob Garcia – President, Mike Ostyn – Vice President, Pat Korloch – Treasurer, Bev Garcia – Secretary and VP Communications, Chaplin – Leslie Driesenga and Sergeant of Arms – Leslie Ostyn. Lunch was then served followed by an ice cream social provided by our “fines” kitty!
The rest of the day was left open to explore the beautiful area around Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, Petosky, the Tunnel of Trees, museums, and shopping. 4PM brought on our social hour where we compared notes on all the wonderful things and places we’d seen. While at the pavilion, we could gaze at the lake with its geese and ducks and on the water. All the time under the watchful eyes of an American Bald Eagle nearby!
Saturday once again started with coffee and donuts. We then headed to Harbor Springs to enjoy the Taste of Harbor Springs. This was a gathering of many of the greatest restaurants in Northern Michigan! It was 3 hours of sampling of all kinds of dishes, plus all you could eat! Many of us had beer and wine in special commemorative cups and glasses for the celebration. We returned to our camp for the 4PM social hour to talk about all the different foods we’d tried.
Sunday after more rolls and coffee, we said our goodbyes until our May 2024 rally. Thank you all for making this rally so special and thanks to all the departing officers who have served the club for the past seven to ten years!! May it continue to flourish!
