Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA
Ypsilanti, Michigan September 8 – 11 What beautiful weather we had for our last rally of the year!! We had the use of a shelter, but we didn’t need it – we used our tables by the rv’s for our meals and meeting. The members who joined us were Mike and Marcia Black, Ed and Jan Cheeney, Dennis and Suzanne Dudley, Bob and Bev Garcia, Ken and Alice Hamlin, Ron Mercer and Pat Korloch and Alice’s sister, Maureen Schutte. Monday was the start of the rally, but the Blacks, Garcias, Hamlins and Cheeneys checked in early. On Sunday they enjoyed a chili dinner created by Marcia Black. Thanks so much Marcia! Everyone else arrived on Monday in time for our Happy Hour. This was followed by a dinner of pizza and salad. Birthday cake was added by the Garcias since it was Bob’s birthday. Tuesday we met at the Henry Ford Museum to catch the bus to the Ford Rouge Plant Tour. First were two presentations and then walking at our own pace above the assembly line. Busses ran regularly back to the Henry Ford Museum. Some toured the museum while others headed back to the campground. Many decided to stay in the area for dinner and ate at Ford’s Garage. If you haven’t been there before, it’s worth going to see all the car parts used in the rest rooms and all the decorations in the dining room. Wednesday we got up to have coffee, along with yogurt, muffins and fruit. The Annual Business Meeting was held at 10:00 and then everyone was on their own to see nearby sites. Several went to the Michigan Flight Museum in Willow Run. After our Happy Hour we all went to dinner at Johnny’s on the Lake in Belleville. Sadly where they had us seated, the shade was broken, and poor Marcia was blinded by the sun. We moved tables and then were told that any party over 6 people had to get one bill. We were disappointed, but then delighted when our waitress brought us all individual bills. The food was great. Thursday we had coffee, bagels and farewells. The whole rally was just like the weather – beautiful; we were happy, relaxed, and entertained with good friends. |
